RUNNING PROJECT...

> The construction of a new education center
in Thazhanguda
Thazhanguda
village authorities have authorised us to use
the Thazhanguda's Community Hall to run our current
projects. The building allows us to welcome a
great number of children but we nowadays reach
the limits of the capacity of the building. Furthermore,
we organise classes for high school children who
need to study in a quiet atmosphere.
We will thus build
a proper education centre in Thazhanguda, it will
allow us to provide good teaching conditions to
the children and extend the number of our beneficiaries.
The future Centre will be situated in the
centre of the village, between the Thazhanguda
school and a children play ground. It will be
located at 100 meters from our current Centre.
It will be composed of three class rooms, a computer
room / documentation centre and a little garden
(click on the following links to get a 3D view
of the future education center, from frontside
and backside).
The Centre will
be built by our partner Architecture and Development
(A&D), following an ecological chart. It also
will be used as a case study for Thazhanguda's
children. Throughout the building process, we
will organise with A&D activities and classes
linked with the construction: mathematics applied
to the construction, awareness raising on the
different ecological aspects of the Centre (water,
waste management, choice of different materials,
advantage of alternative energies…), classes
on the process of life of vegetals (the garden
will be managed by the children and used as a
practical demonstration of the classes).

a training program for teachers from nangal and
other organisations
In
order to develop a children friendly approach
in the education provided by our pedagogical team
to Thazhanguda children, we will organise in 2007
and 2008 a cycle of training modules. It will
be organised in cooperation with some of our French
partners dealing with active and participative
education, among which Solidarité Laïque
and the Ceméa. We will invite teachers
from other local organisations as well. In the
long term, some of the Nangal teachers will themselves
conduct trainings in Tamil Nadu schools and NGOs
interested by these methods of active learning.
