ALTERNATIVE EDUCATION PROJECTS

Indoors and outdoors activities which aim at developing Thazhanguda's children' skills, range of interests, social values as well as providing them entertainment and leisure time. They are organised during the WE and the school holidays.

	> We activities We organise every WE pedagogical and leisure activites for about 80 children. They consist in games, sports and special workshops such as painting, theater, manual works... We also try to raise awareness to the children and the Thazhanguda villagers on issues that concern children environment. For instance, we organised in August and September 2007 workshops around the Child rights theme (more info about these workshops).

	> Summer camp Every year during the summer (month of May), we organise awareness programs and workshops that keep on running during the whole holidays. This year, we organised activities around the themes of waste management, habitat and livelihood. The children, divided in different groups, realised a newspaper about these issues in Thazhanguda. Another group realise a reconstitution of the village in clay. Another group worked with theatre teachers and created three drama plays. They also design a screen that will be displayed during a performance that will be organised middle of June. > More about the 2007 Nangal summer camp!

	> Special events Once or twice times a year, we organise special events with the Thazhanguda children. In June 2005, we run a theater and dancing show in front of the whole village, in August 2005, we organised a sport competition with more than three hundred children during three days, in June 2006, we made an exhibition and show in the Kid Center, in August 2006, our team brought around 20 children for a three days tour in the nearby Kodaikanal mountains.
